We are pleased to announce the selection of our new Academic Director, Ms. Laurilie Keay!
The selection was made after a months-long interview process, which included input and feedback from parents, teachers, staff, and board members. Ms. Keay has decades of experience in school leadership and teaching roles at preK-8 public and private schools in Arizona and Canada. Ms. Keay has broad experience with curriculum planning and leading innovative educational programs, including launching a school-wide STEM program, teaching diverse students, and student conduct matters.
Special areas of expertise for Ms. Keay include teacher coaching, building schoolwide culture and climate, student data and assessment, and leading special education programs serving preschool, elementary and middle school students.
Most recently, Ms. Keay has been serving as the Student Achievement Leader at Kingman Middle School, and previously served as a Disabilities/Mental Health Specialist and Head Start Center Manager at the Western Arizona Council of Governments. Ms. Keay was also the Student Conduct Director at Telesis Preparatory Academy Charter School.
The Alma Fuerte team is excited to bring Ms. Keay on beginning in late April, and she will be visiting periodically before then to get to know students, families, and staff members.
Ms. Keay is excited to lend her skills and expertise in order to lead Alma Fuerte’s academic programs, and she is just as excited to be moving closer to her grown children who have relocated to LA. Please take a moment to greet Ms. Keay when you see her on campus!
