The teachers and staff at Alma Fuerte are excited to announce that our school is now open for on campus learning! It's been almost a year since we've been able to see our little Eagles due to COVID-19, but the wait is finally over! With last week being orientation week, where we invited each grade to campus one at a time, this week we will be welcoming every grade back to start their on campus learning. During orientation week, each teacher picked a day for the students to visit the campus and review our protocols for COVID. They also had some fun activities for them to start, kind of breaking the ice for our new TK students, and reestablishing those that are returning to the school. You could feel their smiles through their masks. I'm pretty sure they could feel all of ours too!
Our staff has been preparing for this for months. Classrooms were decorated, each with their own, new themes. They range from traveling around the world, to space, all the way to what our 3rd grade class calls "Harry Potter Land"! Teachers even did a little painting in the hallways upstairs. The inside of the school may look a little different, but it's still filled with the fun, friendly, caring, entrepreneurial spirit that we value. We have arrows going up and down the stairs to help guide our students to and from their pick-up/drop-off spots.
The pick-up/drop-off spot is filled with different colored poly spots for our students to stand on. These poly spots are also used to help us practice and maintain social distancing. We have some sanitization stations outside of each classroom to help keep their hands clean. And if you happen to be upstairs, you'll notice our stickers on the floor that help us all maintain a safe distance while we're standing in line. We hope that these practices help make coming back to school as easy as possible for our students.
One thing I can say is that it's a good feeling to be able to look forward to the return of our Eagles on campus. It feels like it's been longer than a year since we've last seen them. We were able to see a small cohort of students prior to opening back up, and that only only added to the excitement for this week. We'll be reunited and it feels so good! Alma Fuerte is looking forward to making our Eagles' return back to school a good one! Let's finish the school year better than the last one started. Welcome back to school Eagles!
