I. Opening Items
A. Record Attendance and Guests - Adriani Leon, Laurilie Keay,Myra Salinas, Amy Held, Hazim Rabadi, Yolanda Gutierrez, Anne Lee
B. Call the Meeting to Order - The meeting was called to order at 6:06 pm.
C. Oral Communications from the Public - No oral communications from the public.
II. Director’s Report - Director reported on the end of the year activities, enrollment, plans for re-opening, grants, safety protocols and materials, new special education hires, budget updates based on 100 students, family engagement, and facilities updates.
III. Approval of Minutes (5/18/2020) - Hazim moves to approve the minutes; Anne seconds; motion unanimously approved.
IV. Teacher Recognition - Board members recognized AFPS staff’s hard work during the closure. AFPS provided a phenomenal program during the most challenging times.
V. Approval of Calendar - Amy moves to approve the calendar with delegated authority to vet it with PUSD and LACOE schools to ensure maximum flexibility; Hazim seconds; motion unanimously approved.
VI. Vendor Approvals (TES, Staff Rehab, EXED, Revolution Foods) - Anne moves to approve the following vendors: EXED up to $65,850 and Revolution Foods up to $35,000; Hazim seconds; motion unanimously approved.
VII. Finance A. Approve May Financials - Yolanda presented the May Financials. Amy moves to approve the May Financials; Hazim seconds; motion unanimously approved. B. Approve 20-21 Budget - Yolanda presented the 20-21 Budget. Anne moves to approve the 20-21 Budget; Hazim seconds; motion unanimously approved. C. Approve Board Resolution for PPP Loan - Amy moves to approve AFPS receive the PPP funds in light of AFPS’ economic uncertainty; Anne seconded the motion; motion unanimously approved. D.Approve EPA Spending Plan - Anne moves to approve to receive EPA $18,800 to be allocated to support teacher salaries and benefits; Amy seconded; motion passed.
VIII. Closed Session: Director Evaluation and 403b - No action was taken during closed session.
IX. Board Office Elections - Anne moves to approve all 5 board members for another term of office; Hazim seconded; motion passed unanimously. Anne Lee Amy Held - Vice Chair Hazim Rabadi - Secretary Myra Salinas - Chair Melanie Sauer - Treasurer Anne moves to approve the board officers as defined for another term of office; Hazim seconded; motion passed unanimously.
X. Approve COVID-19 Written Operations Report - Amy moves to approve; Hazim seconded; motion passed. XII. 990 Tax Return - Yolanda presented and the board acknowledged the 990 Tax Return for calendar year 2018.
XI. Adjourn Meeting - The meeting was adjourned at 7:56pm.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR BOARD MEETING PARTICIPATION BY MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC The Board of Directors of Alma Fuerte Public School welcomes your participation at the School’s Board meetings.
The purpose of a public meeting of the Board of Directors (“Board”) is to conduct the affairs of the School in public. We are pleased that you are in attendance. Your participation assures us of continuing community interest in our School. To assist you in the ease of speaking/participating in our meetings, the following guidelines are provided.
1. "Request to Speak” forms are available to all audience members who wish to speak on any agenda items or under the general category of “Oral Communications.” If you wish to address the Board, please fill out a card and submit it to the Board Secretary. “Oral Communications” is set aside for members of the audience to raise issues that are not specifically on the agenda. However, due to public meeting laws, the Board can only listen to your issue, not respond or take action if not appearing on the agenda.
2. Presentations from the audience are limited to three (3) minutes and total time allotted to non-agenda items will not exceed fifteen (15) minutes. The Board may give direction to staff to respond to your concern.
3. In compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and upon request, Alma Fuerte Public School may furnish reasonable auxiliary aids and services to qualified individuals with disabilities. Individuals who require appropriate alternative modification of the agenda in order to participate in Board meetings are invited to contact Adriani Leon at (626) 204-5265.
